Deputy Program Director, Data Science
Matt Herman performs data collection, manipulation, and visualization for several CSG Justice Center projects. Before joining the CSG Justice Center, Matt was a deputy director in the Office of Research and Analytics at the NYC Administration for Children’s Services, where he created automated and reproducible workflows to generate outcome measures and performance indicators for investigations of child abuse and neglect. He collaborated with managers of frontline child protection staff to interpret this data in order to create actionable quality improvement plans and assess the impact of these plans. Matt received a BA in American studies from Columbia University and an MS in applied social research from Hunter College.
